This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming Kaitlyn Kushner as our intern, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the energy, enthusiasm, and unique perspective she brought to our team.

As Kaitlyn’s internship comes to a close, we’re filled with appreciation for her contributions and impressed by her growth over the past few months. Her presence has not only aided our projects but she brought fresh ideas and an eagerness to learn. We’re thrilled to share Kaitlyn’s reflections on her time with us, highlighting the mutual benefits of this internship experience. Without further ado, here’s Kaitlyn’s account of her summer at RESLV:

Howdy, I’m Kaitlyn Kushner, the summer intern at RESLV! 

I’ve had a great summer with the team, and find it hard to believe that my internship has coming to a close. This summer, RESLV has provided me with the community, tools, and experience to refine my technical abilities and relational skills in the video production and marketing industries. Before my time here wraps up, I’d like to take a moment to share a bit about my time at RESLV and extend my heartfelt thanks to the team for this invaluable opportunity! 

Key Learnings and Skills

For the past few months at RESLV, I’ve been on a remarkable journey of learning across a diverse set of fields. A significant focus for me this summer has been exploring the marketing aspects of video production. Working alongside Jesy Herron, the VP of Client Partnerships, I’ve honed my client relationship skills and utilized industry-standard marketing tools to analyze consumer-audience relations. This experience has provided me with valuable insights into crafting effective video content and has strengthened my foundation in marketing strategies.

In addition, this summer I’ve also had the opportunity to gain practical experience in on-site video production. Whether I was offering direction in the pre-production phase or anticipating the technical and logistical needs on shoot days as a Production Assistant, I was consistently able to use the feedback of the professionals around me to ensure project success and enhance my own skills.

Contributions to Projects

From the first day of my internship, I felt fortunate to immerse myself in substantial assignments that grounded my skill development in real-world applications. Such in-office assignments included designing a client survey that addresses marketing pain points (and subsequently proposing solutions), developing a variety of media content (including industry-related blog posts, social media pieces highlighting company culture, engaging social media images, and more), as well as content creation for the quarterly company newsletter. 

My experiences in the RESLV office directly translated into fieldwork. One standout field experience this summer was a shoot with a local hospital where we interviewed a patient and their family for a success story video. The assignment not only allowed me to enhance my lighting and audio skills across different settings but also underscored the necessity of flexibility in video production, especially when we had to abruptly pause and regroup a few times due to adverse weather conditions. Moreover, this experience reaffirmed the significance of our role as storytellers; witnessing emotional moments as the patient and their family shared their strenuous medical journey was an important reminder of the impact of our work. 

Personal Growth and Development

Reflecting on my summer internship at RESLV, I’ve found that my open-mindedness, flexibility, perseverance, confidence, and resourcefulness have served me well and taught me a lot. I learned to adapt swiftly to evolving project demands and overcame challenges with determination, refining both my work ethic and resilience. My confidence grew as I actively contributed to projects and engaged with clients, honing my ability to take initiative and trust my instincts. I became adept at finding creative solutions and leveraging team expertise to achieve outstanding outcomes. Embracing diverse perspectives and continuous learning enhanced my understanding of the video marketing industry, leaving me well-prepared for future endeavors beyond this transformative experience with RESLV.

Gratitude and Conclusion

I am incredibly grateful to RESLV and the entire team for the invaluable educational experience I’ve had this summer as an intern. From day one, the guidance and mentorship I’ve received have been instrumental in developing my skills in video production, marketing, and beyond. Working alongside passionate professionals who generously shared their knowledge has not only expanded my understanding of the industry but has also inspired me to strive for excellence in all I do. I am deeply appreciative of the opportunities I’ve been given to contribute meaningfully to projects and to see firsthand the impact of our collaborative effort.
